Mother Of Creation
I painted this piece while on a spiritual journey to Teotihuacan Mexico. My friend Emily Greaves suggested to me that since I was in Mexico, I ought to paint Guadalupe. This was during the Covid lockdown. I have had a personal relationship with Guadalupe since December 12, 2004. Which became my sobriety date, and unknown to me at the time, December 12th is the date she is honored, thus began my initiation with her. She represents the strength I have found in feminine energy and the ability for me to create from the devastation of the past. This painting is filled with visual symbolism of the divine mother of creation, and of the transformative power of archetypal images.
